Q.1. What is the "misadventure" that William Douglas speaks about?
Ans. William Douglas speaks about of the misadventure which had happened when he was 10 or 11 years old and he decided to swim in Y.M.C.A. pool the pool was only two or three fect deep st the shallow end while it was 9 fect deep at the other.
He had an aversion to the water from the beginning but in a little be gathered confidence. One day he went to the pool and a 18 years old person tossed him inte the Deep end and at that time he failed at the surface of the water, swallowed and chocked, he felt that he would die at last somebody rescued him.
Q.2. What were the series of emotion and fears that Douglas experienced when he was thrown into the pool? What plans did he make to come to the surface?
Ans. When Douglas was thrown into the deep and of the pool he was frightened, but not frightened out of his mind. He made a plan to save himself. When his feet would hit the bottom, he would make a big jump, lis flat on it and paddle to the age of the pool. Ans. The drowning experience had made a deep impact on Douglas. He couldn't eat that night. He shook and cred on his bedhe feared water and avoided whenever he could The fear paralyzed him. This fear ruined his fishing trips and deprived him of the joy of canoeing, boating and swimming
Q.4. Why was Douglas determined to get over his fear of water?
Ans. The mishappening ruined his fishing trips and he was deprived of enjoyed water based activities and sports like canoeing, boating, fishing and swimming. He had ardent was to enjoy such activities and regain his lost confidence. So he determined to get over his fear of water.
Q.5. How did the instructor "build a swimmer" out of the douglas?
Ans. The instructor put a belt with a rope with a Douglas He went to a pool and practiced 5 days a weck, as hour each day.
This rope went through a pulley. The instructor held on to the other end of the rope. Each ume the instructor relax his hold on the rope and Douglas went under, some of the old terror returned and froze his legs. It took him three months to get over this fear. Then the instructor taught him to breathe.

Ans. In order to conquered the old terror Douglas to learn swamming. With the help of instructor he practiced five days a week, an hour each day. The instructor put of belt around him. A rope attached to the belt went through a Pulley that ran on an overhead cable. On each trip across the pool a bit of the panic seized him. Each time the instructor relaxed his hold on The rope and he went under. Piece by piece he built a swimmer and in April instructor said him that he can swim. At last he felt released, free to walk the trails and climb the peak and brush aside fear.

Ans. Douglas overcome his fear of water by proper training, practice determination with the help of an instructor, be built a swimmer piece by piece. And he perfected cach piece then he put them together into and integrated whole. And in April his instructor said that" now we can swim Dive off and swim the length of the pool, crawl stroke". He did, the instructor was finished but I was not finished. This went on until July. He laughed and said well Me terror, what do you think you can do to me? He fled and swam up.

Ans.
